Hörndlwand hike

Despite the weather not being greatly improved, we made an attempt on Hörndlwand, a 1684m-high peak not far from our base in Ruhpolding.

It was cloudy and, particularly during the ascent up the flank of the peak, misty and also pretty wet. However, the clouds cleared a little from time to time, to reveal some of the views and giving us a chance to dry off a little.

Not a very long walk, but a solid climb all the way to the top with plenty of variety: Initially through woods and along streams, later on loose scree, and the final short ridge to the summit through twisted, low-growing mountain pine.
